Larmandier-Bernier

Champagne wijnboeren tot in perfectie. Niet voor niets worden Pierre en Sophie Larmandier gevierd als één van de beste Champagnemakers. De twee bezitten een topterroir in de Côte de Blancs en maken van bodem tot druif uiteindelijk muziek in het glas. De wijncultuur is biodynamisch, de stokken zijn gemiddeld boven de 30 jaar en de rendementen zijn laag. Al hun Champagnes smaken ontzettend puur en natuurlijk. Befaamde prouducent die zich mag rekenen tot de allerbeste Artisinale Champagne producenten!

Review

Disgorged in December 2018 and based on the 2015 vintage, the latest release of NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Longitude is showing very well indeed, opening in the glass with a classy and youthfully reserved bouquet of lemon oil, freshly baked bread, crisp yellow orchard fruit and wet chalk. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, elegantly textural and concentrated, with racy acids, terrific tension and a pinpoint mousse. This new disgorgement is especially harmonious and complete. Longitude is routinely one of the region's finest values; indeed, along with Egly-Ouriet's VP bottling, this is one of my two "house" Champagnes. 93/100 William Kelly

While the COVID-19 crisis postponed my planned spring visit to Larmandier-Bernier in Vertus, as this report was going to press, all their latest disgorgements arrived for tasting in my Beaune office. A report on those wines, which I eagerly anticipate tasting, will appear as a stand-alone article shortly, accompanied by a deeper dive into this important producer's practices.
