Dit wijnhuis word gezien als een van de meest toonaangevende van de regio Galicië. Ze hebben veel werk gedaan voor het herstellen van de vallei waar zij in gelegen zijn bij de Gomariz abdij. Door de ligging, focus op inheemse druivenrassen en de zeer bijzondere ondergrond kunnen zij ontzettend sterke en bijzondere wijnen maken. Voor wit Treixadura en rood de pittige druif Sousón de baas. De witte wijnen zijn aromatisch met een beetje ondersteuning van eikenhout, daar het rood stoer en intens uitpakt met een tikje klassiek.

X is for "xisto," the Galician spelling of schist, the dominant soil in the vineyards used for the 2018 X, a rare bottling, as it's mostly Albariño (it's mentioned on the front label as a varietal wine, even if it has some 5% Treixadura). It has an expressive nose that goes beyond the pure varietal expression, and the palate reveals great elegance, intense and powerful, with developed flavors (the wine is close to 14% alcohol). They like ripe and flavorful fruit here but not over-ripeness. This comes from vines planted in 2001, and the wine is produced in a traditional way, bottled unoaked after time in contact with the lees. 6,000 bottles were filled in May 2019. 93/100 Luis Gutiérrez
Coto de Gomariz is releasing some reds they have kept in bottle. Since 2015, the style of the reds has changed, looking for more identity and less invasive élevage and going for shorter macerations at higher temperatures and with larger barrels. They now export 50% of their production, which makes them the largest exporter in Ribeiro. They have 32 hectares of vineyards, 24 in Gomariz proper. They produce 90,000 bottles spread among 10 different labels.
